Intent: Our intent is to inspire a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people. We will equip your child with knowledge about the place, people, resources and natural and human environments of this ancient civilisation. As your child’s knowledge deepens, their will gain a better understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and the formation and use of landscapes and environments. We will identify how the Earth’s features are shaped, interconnected and change over time.
Aims: We are going to travel back 5000 years, to the dusty realms of ancient Egypt. Cruise along the Nile, entering a world of mysteries and curses, mummies and kings. We will find out about life on the river’s fertile banks, discovering Egypt and its fascinating culture. Together, we shall unravel the secrets of ancient tombs, using historical sources and ancient artefacts and find out about powerful pharaohs and grandiose gods. In art and design, we will make a nemes. Drama involves becoming an apprentice and working for Ramose, the chief embalmer at the Beautiful House. We will help him prepare a body for its journey into the afterlife.
This topic will help us open the doorway to ancient Egypt. Who knows what treasures we will find?
