Autumn Term 1
Our topic this half term is Africa. We will be finding out about the continent - how many countries does it have? Which oceans surround it? Which rivers run through it?
To link with this topic, in literacy we will be studying African poems and then sharing the story by Beverley Naidoo, " Journey to Jo'burg." This is a story set in South Africa when the apartheid system was still in place.
In art we will be looking at African patterns, before moving on to design and paint an African mask.
Science involves looking at things in our world around us - how do they move and grow?
Home learning will be set on Fridays. We would ask that it comes back into school completed by the following Thursday. The children will be sent home with:
- maths/ literacy worksheet
In addition to this, we would ask that you support your child with reading by listening to them at least 4 times per week, and commenting in their reading records.
